The Coelacanth Press was named after the strange looking Prehistoric fish with a prototype human heart that was thought to be extinct, then rediscovered under a ledge in the South-Seas. The Coelacanth symbolises the Press' intention to bring together a variety of new, established and neglected practitioners from different fields, to create something 'strange' but with heart. It was founded in 2008 by Phoebe Blatton and Susan Finlay, who continued to work as a contributing-editor until 2010. During this period she co-edited four editions of the The Coelacanth Journal:
1: The Order of Things 2: Hysteria 3: The Moderns 4: The Dream Has Gone but the Baby is Real
