Susan's latest novel, The Jacques Lacan Foundation, received glowing reviews in Prospect, Tribune, and WORMS. It was a White Review Book of the Year, an Anti-Capitalist Resistance Book of the Year, and many UK bookstore and art galleries' Recommended Read. It also features in the opening credits of Bella Freud's Fashion Neurosis.
Prior to this, Susan produced three other experimental-ish novels discussed primarily in the visual arts press, namely My Other Spruce & Maple Self, Objektophilia, and Arriviste, while her poems and short stories have been featured in publications including POETRY, the Los Angeles Review of Books, The Toe Rag, and The Stinging Fly.
Alongside Susan's creative work, she produces cultural criticism for magazines like Tate Etc., the Times Literary Supplement, Spike, Art Review, A Rabbit's Foot, and Motor Dance Journal. She has also written essays for artist books by Zoe Williams, MV Brown, Lucy McKenzie, and Reba Maybury among others.
Curatorial projects include the exhibition Inland Farat the Herbert Read Gallery, the performance, The Annual General Meeting for Artefact Projects, and a series of literary programmes for a.p. She has taught at art and design institutions in both Europe and the UK (an archive of her artworks can be accessed here). Recent residencies include Callie's and RUPERT.
In 2018, Susan and her father founded independent press MOIST, which Susan co-ran until the end of May 2025. Since January 2025 she has been one of three co-editors at JOAN.
